Dear Guests, Patients, Family and Friends,
On behalf of the Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Society of Australia it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our 40th Anniversary.
The society was founded in 1976 and ever since we have worked hard to provide patients, family and friends with all the support they need.
While the available therapies are adequate they are by no means perfect. Though significant advances have been made in understanding the condition, there is still much to be done to improve treatment. This event is very important to us as it serves to help raise awareness, hope and commitment to the challenges of fighting thalassaemia and related conditions.
I would like to thank all those who have played a role volunteering their time and offer their support to make this event a reality. Events like this gives all of us the opportunity to become involved in a tangible way and support the work of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Society of Australia.
I am sure that you will all have a wonderful evening and I encourage all of you to give generously, so we can give hope and a brighter future to those affected by thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia.
